The biggest night in British film is here and the stars will be descending on London’s Royal Albert Hall for the BAFTAs 2020.

Hollywood legends will join members of royalty (the Duke of Cambridge will attend with the Duchess of Cambridge in his capacity as president of BAFTA), and the industry’s most exciting rising stars on the red carpet.

There has been some controversy with a lack of diversity among the nominations, however, the heavy-hitters of award season will all be hoping to take to the winner’s podium.

Joker has 11 nominations including Best Film and Best Leading Actor for Joaquin Phoenix. Once Upon A Time In HollywoodThe Irishman, and 1917 are also each nominated in multiple categories.

Saoirse Ronan (wearing custom Gucci) is flying the flag and is up for Best Leading Actress for her turn as Jo March and will be joined by competition which includes Renée Zellweger, who has taken multiple awards this year for her role in Judy.

There was an eclectic mix of style on the carpet with shimmering black, metallics and vibrant shades of pink (thank you, Florence Pugh, Laura Dern and Scarlett Johansson). Actress Kaitlyn Dever in Miu Miu, Emilia Clarke’s LBD by Schiaparelli, and Amy Huberman wearing Helen Cody, are among the standouts.

Kate Middleton also made her stance on sustainability clear; she wore the same Alexander McQueen gown to a dinner hosted by Malaysia’s head of state during the diamond jubilee tour, back in 2012 (attendees had been asked to re-wear gowns, though this was not mandatory).
