AW18 clothes I've fallen for from brands I've never bought before

The great thing about my job is that you're often exposed to clothes on photo shoots that you might never find on your usual shopping trawls. And there's nothing nicer than discovering a new brand, or rediscovering an old brand. The latter is exactly what happened recently at our September fashion editorial shoot (check it out in IMAGE Magazine when it hits shelves on Thursday, August 16). I was rooting through the stylist's rail when I came across a navy midi skirt with asymmetric button detailing. The fabric felt luxe and had the kind of weight we welcome at the beginning of the new season. The button detailing looked modern and fresh, while the length was perfect for wearing with a pair of slouchy knee-high boots. It ticked so many of my sartorial boxes. And where was it from? Tara Jarmon. Who, I hear you ask?

Tara Jarmon is a Parisian label available online and stocked in Arnotts. It's always been on my radar but never enough to actually buy from. But this skirt is top of my wish list for autumn. In fact, I'll be popping into Arnotts to buy it this weekend.

Midnight blue midi skirt, Tara Jarmon, €220 at Arnotts

I visit a lot, but I was never tempted to click and buy until I saw these boots. They're the perfect new-season buy; both the print and the shape is spot on for AW18.

Slouchy snakeskin print boots, €220 at drifts in and out of my consciousness. I almost bought from the J.W Anderson capsule collection last year, but I was beaten to it by all those those virtual early birds... By the time I got online 30 minutes after the launch, the key pieces in my size were gone. Even online shopping can be stressful it seems. But this cardigan will be my first Uniqlo purchase; you can never have too many in my mind. I love the deep shade of tan, which will be a dominant colour in the coming months, as well as the ribbed texture, which makes it feel more tactile and so more snug. The length is a draw for me too, because it will double up as a "coatigan" over layers in September.
