’70s florals are all I want to wear this year, and I’m starting with these 15 pieces

’70s florals are all I want to wear this year, and I’m starting with these 15 pieces

Florals for spring may not be groundbreaking, but a ’70s spin is just what 2020 is looking for

We love a retro-inspired trend here at IMAGE for so many reasons — it gives us a way to shop the looks sustainably; it’s a great way to ensure our wardrobe remains timeless and can be used again and again; and mostly, these trends come back around for a reason, as they stay looking great for decades.

While we love looking at vintage snaps for inspiration, it’s rare that we embrace a vintage trend wholeheartedly — most looks are much more understated than their predecessors, and have a modern twist to keep our outfit from looking too fancy-dress. But 2020 has shown us one trend that we want to dive into head-first — and that’s ’70s florals.

The phrase ‘go big or go home’ was made for this loud and proud trend that’s perfect for springtime. Big, blooming florals in all their technicolour glory provide a fun break from the granny-inspired demure mini petals that normally take over high street sale sections this time of year. They demand to be seen and are as perfect for daytime office wear as they are for a night out — all you need is the confidence to pull them off.

These 15 pieces are the perfect way to start your 2020 in ’70s chic — buy them now, and you’ll probably still be wearing them in 50 years’ time.
