Five fabulous new-season pieces from Zara

Five fabulous new-season pieces from Zara

You can always rely on Zara to deliver a strong hit of new-season excitement before anyone else. I’ve already picked out two pieces from its online store that I’ll be buying as soon as payday arrives (did this month seem really long to anyone else?). Here are five other great new-season items that will get your autumn/winter wardrobe off to a banging start.

I love strong colours, especially cobalt blue and burgundy, so I’m especially drawn to this ribbed cardigan. For a high-street store, Zara does knitwear really well. This versatile piece can be worn as a cardigan or as a dress – obviously layer it up come September.

Metallic thread cardigan, €49.95

Sexy, feminine, modern and wearable; this skirt ticks so many boxes. I’ll style it over a pair of burgundy boots and an oversized sweater for autumn.

Striped midi skirt, €45.95

This dress has a touch of the Sixties mod about it, but not too much. If you prefer a more Chanel, Fifth Avenue kind of look, swap the white boots for a pointed toe, slingback shoe.

Metallic thread dress, €39.95

The front pleats and slightly exaggerated flare of these cropped trousers makes them a strong statement piece for the new season. This gorgeous earthy shade will work beautifully with all of autumn’s traditional shades, such as burgundy, navy, mustard and charcoal.

Burnt orange cropped trousers, €29.95

Animal print was one of the most dominant looks on the Aw18 catwalks, and of course Zara has translated it efficiently and beautifully in the shape of this leopard-print pleated skirt. Animal print can be hard to handle, so if you’re unsure, style it with a classic white shirt, as below. You can’t go wrong.

Leopard print skirt, €39.95
