3 Fresh Ways To Layer Up For Winter

3 Fresh Ways To Layer Up For Winter

It’s easy to layer up for the cold weather without looking and feeling like a frump. Here are three ways to add extra interest to your outfit, while still looking street-style chic.

Try a hoodie under a full-length coat

There’s a lovely juxtaposition between a hooded sweatshirt and a smart full-length coat that makes this outfit feel really fresh. Hoodies are usually paired with bomber jackets or padded parkas, so I love how this woman has flipped that tradition on its head and gone for a look that’s unexpected and modern. Plus, you’ll be cosy in the worst of the winter weather.

Be bold with colour

Women often forget how important colour is to a winter wardrobe. At this time of year, the high-street is populated with people swaddled in charcoals and black, which is why Yasmin Sewell makes such a strong statement in this fuchsia top and green gingham pinafore dress. Experiment with colour and print by opting for earthy shades that work effortlessly together.

Take a non-traditional approach to tops

I’m not quite sure how this ensemble works (are the sleeves actually part of a shirt or stand-alone add-ons to the outfit?), but I love how it looks. Bandeau tops are a great way of adding another layer and additional interest to your outfit. These oversized sleeves contrast beautifully with this street style star’s slim waist and neat frame. Bare shoulders are also balanced by the voluminous wide-leg trousers.
