Trending: 10 new-season alternatives to ‘that’ Zara dress

Remember the sell-out Zara dress from last summer? Here are 10 similar versions to buy this year

The summer of 2019 would have been nothing if it weren’t for that Zara dress.

You know the one. The smock-style white and black polka dot dress everyone and their mother wore for months. So popular was the Zara creation, an Instagram account dedicated to the dress was created.

Endless memes were created and think pieces written in homage to a dress which seemed to flatter all shapes and sizes.

Some hated it but the majority adored it because of its simple fashion maths. The dress didn’t reel you in with false promises; it did exactly what it said on the tin.

Fuss-free, easy to wear and it worked for all occasions.

Fresh choices

So, will there be a reincarnation of said dress for 2020? The answer is yes. Other retailers have taken note of its success and smock styles are filling the high-street rails at rapid speed. This means you now have more choice when it comes to colours and prints.

Topshop has designed a dress which is called the “chuck on” and comes in khaki and monotone print. Warehouse is selling a pale pink maxi dress version with a slightly dressier feel.

And, of course, Zara comes out on tops with its compositions. An almost identical design is now available to purchase, but this time there is a creased effect. While a leopard print version is our dress of choice – the perfect print for this time of year but will take you right through to summer too.
