Jo Malone’s top five tips on being successful and happy in business

Jo Malone CBE has been described as an ‘English scent maverick’ and the woman responsible for creating some of the world’s most loved fragrances.

And IMAGE is delighted to once again be collaborating with the maverick scent-maker for an incredible evening on November 8 at The Marker Hotel.

Want to come along? Get your tickets here.

Originally a facial therapist, Jo fell in love with fragrance while working from her discreet skin care clinic, which she set up from her London home. She discovered that she had a gift for creating distinct and beautiful perfume products and soon, demand for her fragrances grew. Subsequently,  Jo launched her first brand, Jo Malone London, which gained cult status around the world. In 1999, Jo sold the business to Estée Lauder Companies and remained Creative Director until she left in 2006.

After five years away from the business, she returned to create Jo Loves, a collection of candles, body creams and fragrance all complete with the special Jo touch. She is continually innovating the fragrance industry by creating new ways to wear her scents, including the Jo Love Fragrance paintbrush, which is a gel formula that you brush onto the skin.

The perfumer definitely knows a thing or two about success and she believes that there are five things in particular that you need to be successful and happy in your business.

  1. “You need the passion. You have to tell the story of your product with such passion.”
  2. “Resilience. This is an important ingredient of success.”
  3. “Remember you don’t own creativity. It is your best friend and it wants to walk alongside you in your business.”
  4. “Creativity has its own oxygen and if you want to be creative, be somewhere that sparks your imagination.”
  5. “Focus. You have to be really focused – the more you work at something, the better you become at it.”

Join IMAGE and Jo Malone CBE on November 8, where guests will be treated to a champagne reception, followed by a very special dinner, which is an extra-sensory partnership between Jo and The Marker’s executive chef Gareth Mullens. After dinner, IMAGE contributing editor Melanie Morris will interview the legendary businesswoman and talk about her inspiring journey. Meet the fragrance extraordinaire herself and shop the Jo Loves range onsite from the Space NK pop-up shop.

Tickets start from €125 (plus VAT) with seats strictly limited for the event, so book now to avoid disappointment. The tickets include; a champagne reception, three-course meal which is specially curated for the night with a bespoke wine pairing, a Jo Loves gift and much more surprises and treats on the night.
