Netflix is on a roll when it comes to their original series – they are putting billions of dollars into content this year (and it’s paying off; reports today say that they have more subscribers month-on-month than they ever anticipated) and it’s The Crown – due to land on November 4th -?that currently boasts the biggest price tag?? it cost $100 million to make. The lavish series will chronicle the adult life of Queen Elizabeth II (played by a suitably restrained Claire Foy), from her 1947 marriage onwards. All ten episodes were written by Peter Morgan (who was behind the Oscar-winning film The Queen) and it starts just before Elizabeth was forced to take the throne after the sudden’death of her father, King George VI in 1952.

Ahead of its release, costume designer Michele Clapton takes us behind-the-scenes of the wardrobe for?The Crown?the intricacies, the individuality, and the importance of the costumes and fashion to be able to tell the remarkable story of a 25-year-old newlywed faced with the daunting prospect of leading the world’s most famous monarchy.

Watch it below ahead of the 10-episode premiere on November 4th:
