What to do, what to do? We have some ideas for you.

Frozen

If you want to be the best grown up ever in the eyes of the children in your life, then book a few tickets for the National Concert Hall’s upcoming sing-along Frozen on December 13th. The record breaking movie will be screened in high-definition. As to whether you will be able to hear the actual soundtrack over the voices of devoted fans remains to be seen.

OPSH x SATC

This Thursday night every city-dwelling gal worth her tequila salt will be sitting in the Button Factory for OPSH in association with Sure Moments That Matter’s?Sex and the City Exposed event. Think cocktails, a screening of a popular episode as voted for by sartorially smashing attendees, and then a panel discussion on just how accurate the HBO series was in it’s depiction of working women’s single lives. Nab yourself, and your three best pals, tickets here.

Tippletown

The tagline for this weeklong festival is ?a party with spirits?. This is a pun because Tippletown is a festival dedicated to bars, bartenders and the beautiful glasses of art these men and women create. Tippletown runs all this week in Dublin town with parties, workshops and pop-up bars among the crowded programme

This week’s dose of proper art

Conor Horgan, one of Ireland’s most sought-after fashion and portrait photographers, may have moved on to video, but he’s still treating us plebs to his fabulous back catalogue. Dublin Unpublished opens at the Little Museum of Dublin on November 27th and is a collection of images of Dublin and her residents that never made it to the magazine pages – see Jean Butler above. Also, life heroine Mary Robinson is apparently among the prints?

You really should visit Merrion Square this weekend

You may be the type of grump who insists that Christmas celebrations can only truly begin on December 1st, but we have a little something that is going to sway those grinchy values right from under your nose. The Merrion Square Christmas market is the sharpest player in the game and this annual ?Christmas on the Square? celebration is worth devoting your Saturday to. Georgian buildings and their impressive staircases are open to the public who will be offered a chance to meet an array of Irish makers and crafters. The Irish Design Shop will take up residence at the Irish Architectural Archive at No. 24 Merrion Square. Limited edition albums will be on offer at the Irish Traditional Music Archive. The National Gallery, our personal favourite shopping break space, has family focused activities on throughout the day and the National Print Museum has a stationary market. This is pop-up culture with acres of class. For waaaaaaay more details see merrionsquare.ie

Wuthering Heights

Every Christmas the Gate Theatre can be relied upon to deliver a classic production that verges on the right side of seasonal. We, and our mothers, are still raving about last year’s Pride and Prejudice. This year Emily Bront?’s classic novel Wuthering Heights is the leaving certificate text getting the dramatic treatment with writer Anna-Marie Casey on adaptation duties. Word on the streets of Dublin is that Tom Canton’s Heathcliff is worth the entrance price alone.

Paddington!

Paddington Bear, Fashion’s original hat-and-coat-combo icon, is finally getting his own movie. Blue Jasmine‘s Sally Hawkins and Downton‘s Hugh Bonneville play the English couple who take the lost Peruvian bear in after finding him at the train station, with Nicole Kidman as the boo-hiss baddie. We know Kidman is playing evil because she is rocking a bobbed and blonde wig in the trailer. Cutie-in-chief, Ben Whishaw, voices Paddington who will be hitting cinema screens this weekend.
