Well-known faces were out in force tonight for world-renowned producer Cameron Mackintosh’s Miss Saigon which opened at The Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Dublin.  Previous shows by the acclaimed producer including Phantom of the Opera and the magical Mary Poppins.have thrilled Irish audiences.

Cameron Mackintosh has previously said, “It’s hard to believe that it has been over 25 years since Miss Saigon first opened, but if anything, the tragic love story of the show has become even more relevant today. This new production, directed by Laurence Connor, takes a grittier, more realistic approach than the original production while still delivering the power and epic sweep of Boublil and Schoenberg’s tremendous score.”

This epic love story tells the tragic tale of young bar girl Kim, orphaned by war, who falls in love with an American GI called Chris – but their lives are torn apart by the fall of Saigon. With an exceptional score, lavish sets and an outstandingly talented cast and a company of 60, Miss Saigon has played in 29 countries, 353 cities and has won 70 major theatre awards.
