R-Patz’s Girlfriend Subject to Racist Abuse

Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs out for a walk.

Major ughhh alert. Robert Pattinson, he of the constantly mussed hair, has been seen out and about with one of the most exciting artists in recent years, FKA Twigs, and because he seems to attract a particularly devoted fanbase Twigs, his rumoured new girlfriend, is being targeted with racist abuse across social media.

Dazed reported the story today after FKA Twigs took to Twitter last night to express her disgust at the abuse she was being subjected to.

The artist said racism is unacceptable in the real world and the same standards ought to exist online.

Jezebel put together some of the worst offenders with words like ‘monkey’ being spewed by trolls. It’s pretty shocking stuff. Most of the abusers seem to be Kristen Stewart fans, and heavily invested in a relationship that has been over since 2012 after photos emerged of Stewart cheating.

Twigs had previously spoken to Dazed about the racist abuse she suffered at school due to her mixed-race heritage. She has said, “Half of my life I’ve had people staring at me because they think I’m funny-looking and ugly. The other half of my life ?I’ve had people staring at me because they think I’m fascinating. Everything neutralises. It’s more of a statement on society and how weird it is.”

Twigs’ real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett – her father is Jamaican and her mother of Spanish and English descent. Her album?LP1 is nominated for the Mercury Prize.
