Martha Stewart Challenges Gwyneth

Martha Stewart Challenges Gwyneth

Martha Stewart

Lifestyle blogs at dawn…

The original lifestyle guru, Martha Stewart, is taking on the pretenders to her incorporated throne. In an interview in the latest issue of fashion magazine Porter, Stewart talked about Gwyneth Paltrow and her Goop pretensions. Page Six got their hands on the copy where she said of the Hollywood actress, ?She just needs to be quiet. She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.? That, my friends, is a burn.

Martha Stewart has worn many coats – she modelled and has even spent time in jail for insider trading – but her status as the lifestyle queen of America is undisputed. She regularly authors best-selling tomes, presents television shows, continues to publish magazines and her website is a popular trove of crafting tips. With a media empire of that scale under her apron she can consider herself more than qualified to proffer up ?criticism? on her supposed rivals.

Blake made a cake for Beyonc?’s birthday

Earlier this summer Martha also weighed in on Blake Lively’s Preserve, another lifestyle website with an actress at the helm, by telling the Huffington Post, “I mean, it’s stupid, she could be an actress!” Her brand’s Senior VP ?called Lively’s endeavour ?enthusiastic? but ?not credible?. Reception for Preserve has been generally lukewarm and mostly perplexed. The Cut went one further and made terrifying gifs from the embedded videos on the site.?Late last month Lively marked her birthday on the site by writing about how a swarm of bees attacked her.?Gwyneth’s Goop meanwhile attracts criticism for it’s WASP philosophy and price points, currently listing a monogrammable l’americano longboard as a summer essential.

The lesson here is that one batch of homemade granola does not a legitimate and profitable domestic goddess make.

So, are you Team Martha, or do you think fair play to Gwyneth and Blake for following their blogging dreams?
