Guinness Cork Jazz Festival: What To Do

The Guinness Jazz Festival will take place from 22nd – 26th October 2015. Tens of thousands of people will descend on Cork city from all over the world to enjoy the popular Jazz festival featuring over 400 music sessions in over 60 pubs, theatres, clubs and hotels venues in Cork city. This year’s line-up includes an eclectic mix of artists including The Coronas, Gary Numan, The Drifters, The Darius Brubeck Quartet and Marcus Miller.

These are the best places to go, things to see and the food to eat while at the Guinness Jazz Festival in Cork this weekend.

Go Shopping
Mother Jones Flea Market is a market in the heart of Cork City Centre. Based in unique Thompson House on York Street, just off McCurtain Street the market houses vintage clothing, furniture, books, jewels, records, fabulous funky household items and local creative crafts. The market includes local food from the cafe.

Visit Cork City Gaol
One of the most memorable Cork tourist attractions. Visit the magnificent castle-like building that once housed 19th-century prisoners! The best time to visit the gaol would be Sunday 25th at 4 pm where you can catch The Art Crimes Band perform as part of the Jazz Fringe Festival. This show will also see the group officially launch their debut album entitled ?Radio?. A festival favourite – not to be missed.

*Go to a Guitar Gathering
Guitar Gathering is a series of special workshops under the direction of top jazz guitarist Hugh Buckley. Listen, look and learn as four major guitarists show you the tricks, licks and contexts that make the guitar such an iconic instrument. With sessions open to all and free of charge, it’s going to be guitar heaven for fans attending the Festival.
