While everyone is used to a ‘soft day? in Galway, few were prepared for the floods and tornados that accompanied Ladies? Day at the Ballybrit summer race festival this year. Thank heavens, then, for the totally weather-proof, spacious and elegant Laurent-Perrier Champagne Bar, which offred shelter, bubbles, a tote and a central hub of style for the thousands of beautifully-dressed ladies and gentlemen who braved the elements for an exhilarating afternoon. Best Dressed Lady Rachelle Guiry from Limerick popped in after winning her title, while winner of the best hat Alex Butler also turned heads. As the afternoon continued, the rain slowly subsided so all could leave with outfits intact.
