Providing all the best that contemporary Dublin has to offer, this small, owner-run caf? is a must for those who value fresh, honest and delicious food. Seemingly simplistic design belies a sharp attention to detail; an ethos carried from the thoughtful sourcing of ingredients and the creative balancing of the menu right through to the furniture in the caf?. The sustainable birch ply and dove grey colour scheme is super-current, providing a comfortable setting in which the food can happily take centre stage. The menu offers a selection of soups, salads and sandwiches which may sound standard but is anything but in BH’s hands. Imaginative seasoning, featuring sumac and za?atar, gives dishes a Middle Eastern lift. The pulled pork sandwich is quickly gaining legendary status as are the salads which have an Ottolenghi flair to them. For those inclined towards the sweeter things in life, the flourless almond and orange cake is wonderfully good. ?brother_hubbard_page_2

Top Table The bar in the window is a great people-watching spot, while the outdoor seating out back is ideal whatever the weather – blankets, heaters and a retractable roof ensure all the bases are covered.

Perfect detail The owners picked up the golden pepper grinders in Turkey and had the wooden cutlery and napkin blocks made to fit them.

Location, location Capel Street is swiftly becoming the coolest stretch in town.

In the know The growing garden out back is getting underway so there’s a no smoking policy, even outdoors.

Watch this space There are plans afoot to start a supper menu in the evening and the lads are expanding into the nextdoor space. Updates @brother_hubbard.
