The grandeur of Dublin’s Gresham Hotel was in keeping with the theme of this special benefit ball, held on the eve of Bloomsday to commemorate James Joyce and raise much-needed funds for the National Maternity Hospital. Over 120 guests sipped prosecco before sitting down to a delicious three-course dinner. Senator David Norris then gave a welcome speech and read from the ?Oxen and the Sun? chapter of Ulysses, where Holles Street Hospital is famously mentioned in the text. Raffle prizes were plentiful, including hotel breaks, vouchers and afternoon tea. By all accounts, it was the perfect way to celebrate Bloomsday and the great James Joyce.
