These Are The Most Instagrammed Honeymoon Destinations In The World

After the stress of the big day has been and gone – or somewhere in between if you’re really on the ball – thoughts quickly turn to the Honeymoon. It will likely be one of the most special and romantic holidays you’ll ever take. And the choice is yours when it comes to choosing how to celebrate it. From snorkelling over reefs and walks on secluded beaches, to relaxing spa treatments and cookery classes, the possibilities for honeymoon activities are endless. But, what are the most popular honeymoon destinations? And equally important, which places to people photograph the most? Getting the destination right means much of the planning is done for you. And in case you’re wondering what the most popular places are for that Instagram photo book (no shame, everyone thinks about it), a survey by Hitched.co.uk revealed all.

By analysing 8,000 uses of the #honeymoon and #honeymooners hashtags, Hitched were able to create a list of the top 35 honeymoon destinations around the world and we have the top ten right here.

The Big Apple is at the top of many people’s bucket lists thanks to its world-famous attractions. The city that never sleeps lands the top spot as the most popular honeymoon destination of all time as a considerable 6.92% of people head here to celebrate their first trip as fresh-faced newlyweds. And according to the data, there are four favourite countries for honeymooners. These countries are French Polynesia, Indonesia, Italy and the Maldives; they all appear twice in the top 10 list (due to countries sharing positions).

Italy is also one of the places to be for soon-to-be honeymooners. The popular Mediterranean country appears at both the 3rd and 4th positions on the top 10 most popular honeymoon destinations list. The country combines rich history with glamour and is favoured for its breathtaking beaches, delicious cuisine and world famous wines; the Instagrammable picturesque seaside towns make Italy the perfect place to wind down after your big day.

See below for the top 10 for some honeymoon inspo!

1. New York, USA

2. Kuta, Indonesia
