Emmy Awards 2016: The Outfits

It feels like we’ve just gotten over last years’ red carpet fever when?it all starts happening again. It’s still a tad early for the official award season of 2016 to be kicking off, but last night it was the stars of the small screen’s chance to shine ahead of TV’s biggest night of the year as the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards kicked off, at a time where there’s never been more competition on TV. With network giants such as HBO, Showtime, ABC and Netflix leading the pack with a wide range of top quality shows, it is an exciting time to be starring?in a hit series (and very lucrative?for the actors too, it has to be said).

In terms of the red carpet, there can be little doubt the talented men looked dashing in their sleek tuxedos, but it’s the ladies fashion choices that caught our eye. 2015 was all about the fabulous leading ladies and this year they also didn’t disappoint, with a diverse range of outfits on display from America Ferrera’s’shimmering Jenny Packham, Game of Thrones‘ Sophie Turner’s beautiful, black lace Valentino to Modern Family‘s Sarah Hyland’s quirky Monique Lhuillier jumpsuit. Plenty of catwalk trends appeared on the ever-glamourous carpet from velvet to eye-catching sparkle and all in all; the women showed ’em how it was done this year.

We’ll be dissecting?the winners, and the beauty looks later today on IMAGE.ie, but for now, it’s all about the outfits. See the looks in our gallery above.
