Summer in the city: July pop-up dinners & drinks in Dublin

As this exceptional summer continues, offering up long balmy days we’re looking for even more ways to get out and sample the city. Here, we round up pop-up places that are here for a good time, not for a long time…

The House Of Peroni, 5th – 15th July, 130-133 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2

The House of Peroni Residency is back for its summer stint, this time taking over the old Dandelion building on St. Stephen’s Green. The immersive pop-up is all bright whites, Peroni navy and lots of greenery, featuring a breezy terrazza bar where you can head for Peroni-infused cocktails curated by Federico Riezzo and order Dublin Pizza Company delights and Italian nibbles from resident chefs Grainne O’Keefe of Clanbrassil House and Hugh Higgins, formerly of Luna. Think fresh bruschetta, fritto misto, oysters and arancini. There is also a bookable sit-down restaurant and a host of masterclasses to choose from, covering mixology, pasta making and fashion. Brunch is served on the weekends with booking advised. La dolce vita.

If meat’s your thing, then this flame-fueled pop-up weekend at Guinness is not to be missed. A stellar line up of chefs will set up fire in the grounds of Open Gate Brewery including Niall Davidson of Nuala in London, Dan Doherty, formerly of London’s Duck & Waffle, Pip Lacey winner of Great British Menu 2017, New York’s Esther Choi, owner of m?kbar and ms.yoo and San Pellegrino Young Chef Ireland/UK 2018 Killian Crowley cooking a seafood feast. Expect well-sourced ingredients, cooked low and slow over wood and charcoal and, of course, excellently paired beers. There will also be talks, demos, tastings, workshops and an eclectic line-up of music and entertainers. Hot stuff.

Brewdog’s Cinematic Circus, Saturday 7th July, Weston Airport, Lucan

Cold beers, cult movies and live music on an airport runway? It’s all happening this Saturday out in Weston Airport in Lucan. Brewdog, Scottish craft brewers who’ve become an international name of late, are joining the Irish festival scene with the launch of their first Irish Cinematic Circus pop-up. Beers will be top of the bill, with over 100 taps pouring a selection from plenty of Irish craft brewers, along with international names and, of course, Brewdog favourites. There will also be street food trucks, live music and The Shining will be shown on an outdoor screen. There are travel details on the ticket site and free parking for drivers, along with a free non-alcoholic beer. I’ll drink (a NA beer) to that.

Brother Hubbard Middle Eastern Feastival, July 31st

Brother Hubbard Capel Street is one of the best-loved cafes in town and they also host a changing monthly supper club. July sees them head back to their favourite cuisine; Middle Eastern. Think bright food, full of colour, vibrancy and bold flavours. Everything is served family-style for sharing and diners sit at long tables where chatting is encouraged. They will be looking far and wide around the Levant & Eastern Mediterranean to design a 5-course feast, kicking off with a welcome cocktail. An ideal catch up with mates for relaxed summery vibes.

If you feel like splashing out to celebrate this amazing summer, get dressed up and head to the charming Wilde at The Westbury. For July and August, they will be serving an elegant champagne summer tasting menu in collaboration with the floral-inspired Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque. Their eye-catching bottles fit perfectly with the lush, terrarium interiors of Wilde and there will be even more floral design added for the duration of the pop-up. Instagram moments aside, the dinner also sounds delectable with summery dishes of Castletownbere scallops and Dover sole with crispy gnocchi and all paired with glasses of Perrier-Jouët. I’d clink to that.

Tasting Menu priced at €95 per person.
