VIPs gathered in Dublin Castle for the opening of Beyond Three Perfections, an exhibition of poetry, painting, calligraphy and sculpture curated by Emily de Wolfe Pettit, which celebrates Chinese and Irish artistic disciplines and includes works by Patricia Hudak, Patrick Scott, Wei Ligang, Wu Weishan and poetry by President Michael D Higgins.

Guests in attendance included HE Ambassador Yue Xiaoyong, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland; HE Ambassador Robin Barnett, UK Ambassador to Ireland; director of the OPW Mary Heffernan; actress and singer Maria Doyle Kennedy and her husband Kieran Kennedy; fashion designer Louise Kennedy; director of the Chester Beatty Library Fionnuala Croke; Mairead Sorensen, owner of Butlers Chocolates; artists Wei Ligang and Patricia Hudak; Eoin McGonigal, barrister and former chairman of IMMA; Dr Margaret Downes, former deputy governor of Bank of Ireland; Danny McCoy, CEO of Ibec; and Donal Boylan, director of The Ireland Fund of China.

The opening was followed by a formal dinner in the state apartments.
