If there is anyone who can follow the extravagant wedding of Grace Kelly, it is Elizabeth Taylor, our chosen bridal muse this week. Taylor was married eight times throughout her life, twice (famously) to Richard Burton, seemingly?the love of her life, despite the two subsequent husbands. Though the press criticised her for the multiple nuptials, she undoubtedly loved fiercely and chose to celebrate those relationships in whatever means she felt appropriate.
Taylor’s numerous wedding ceremonies resulted in eight very individual bridal looks. She is a true bridal style icon due to the fact that she chose such unusual attire for her later weddings. A lovely little style quirk is the fresh flowers she had woven into her hair. It must have been a favourite look of hers, as she wears them beautifully on three separate occasions – the most fabulous for her first?wedding to Burton.
Her natural beauty enhanced anything she wore, but she really took risks (though the results may not be to everyone’s taste), and embraced a fresh approach. She used?colour?frequently, a favourite being the green veiled dress she wore to marry Eddie Fisher in 1959.
So enjoy the selection of bridal looks below. From traditional to the far side of non-traditional, Taylor is probably one of the most interesting and controversial brides in recent history. She didn’t shy away from the stigma attached to multiple marriages and as a result, we get some truly fabulous photographs from these major moments throughout her life.
