Looking for love? An Irish TV show is looking for urban singletons to match with rural romantics
How far would you go for love? Would you travel the length of the country? Would you be willing to do it on TV? If so, producers at Kite Entertainment would like you to get in touch.
The Dublin-based production company (and the team behind Gogglebox Ireland) is developing a new prime-time television series, throughout which singletons from Irish towns will be paired with single rural folk.
‘Things are changing’
“It’s really hard for farmers to meet new people,” say the producers, “and we want to find them genuine dates.
“It’s a genuine problem all around the country,” they add, “with rural people in a much more difficult situation than urban or city folk in finding love. Their dating pool has shrunk and they have run out of options – which leads to isolation and loneliness. What we do is take away some of the middle ground and find daters who are genuinely open to life in the countryside (should things work out).
“People are much more flexible in their work-life and can work remotely now, so things are changing… and some may just fancy helping out their [new] boyfriend or girlfriend on a farm.”
The match-making series, aptly named Country Love, already has a list of single farmers, vets, horse lovers and people tied to the land – but they need city-based guys and girls to match them with. If you (or someone you know) is willing to relocate to the countryside in the name of romance, they want to hear from you.
