In the December issue of IMAGE magazine, make-up artist Afton Radojicic created the glitter eye make-up of our shimmering festive dreams. Here, she tells us how to recreate the look.

What was your inspiration for the looks you created?

I think it must have been my inner rebel. I often see similar trends, so I wanted to take something well known such as glitter and sparkle and give it some grit, and explore individualism.

How did you create the glitter eye look with the winged flame flicks?

Using a fine liner brush and a black eyeliner paint pot, I drew the flame line. You could also use an eyeliner pen and don’t worry if the inside line is a bit messy, as long as the outer edges are perfect. Then I used Duo Glue inside of the eyeliner flame. By using eyelash glue instead of a gloss/balm it will ensure that it will last all night without spearing and is easily removed by taking an outer edge and peeling it right off when ready to remove. Take your glitter when glue is semi-dry and press onto the Duo. I used 3D silver cosmetic glitter. Finish your eye with a coat of mascara. If you want to remove any excess glitter from the face just use sticky tape.

I’m not brave enough for the glittery tears you created in the shoot, how can I try a little bit of glitter on the eyes?

I would recommend swapping the traditional black winged eyeliner look for a 3D gold glitter winged eyeliner look with a dab of clear gloss on the eyelids for something a little extra and different.

What products should I use to try to create this look myself?

Use Duo Glue as the base to your flick. Then use a fine eyeliner brush to sweep MAC 3D Glitter along the glue until your flick is complete and perfect. Then using your finger to dab a small amount of MAC Clear Lip Glass to the center of your eyelid and finish with a coat of mascara.

EXPERT TIP: If using brushes with Duo Glue, wash straight after with warm soapy water so that the glue doesn’t dry and ruin the bristles.

When wearing glitter eyes, how should the rest of your make-up appear? Stripped back and bare? Or should you go all out?

Definitely stripped back. Forget contouring and highlighting. Let skin breathe, by using foundation instead of concealer where is necessary and a light coat of mascara.
