In case you haven’t noticed we’re a little bit movie-obsessed here at HQ, so when we were invited to the program launch of the Jameson Film Festival in The Lighthouse last night we practically ran to Smithfield. So, what’s the story? Well, this year’s festival is set to be the biggest yet. Scriptwriting workshops, guest speakers and of course loads of movies and documentaries to get stuck into. Here’s a quick list of some of our ones to watch ?

There’s a lot of buzz about the Irish work in this year’s program.

-?????? Calvary stars Brendan Gleeson (The Guard) and has gone down a treat at Sundance

-?????? Romcom fans should see The Food Guide to Love, set in the capital

-?????? Aidan Quinn stars in Stay (warning: this looks like a tearjerker)

-?????? The Stag is set to be the star of the festival; a bunch of lads stuck in Wicklow at a stag? Sold.

The Irish Film board visited Korea last year, so we’re returning the favour with a thread of Korean film:

-?????? see The Rocket, a documentary set in Laos about a little boy with big dreams

-?????? gangster movie The Fake is a locked and loaded Korean thriller

We’re really excited to see ?

-?????? The Reunion. Watch as a Swedish visual artist recreates her high school reunion (she wasn’t invited to her actual reunion) and then visits her real life school chums to present her interpretation.

-?????? Sexy beast director Jonathan Glazer’s new flick stars Scarlett Johnansson as an alien who lands in Glasgow in Under The Skin

-?????? Design is One: Lella and Massimo Vignelli, a documentary about the lives of one of the world’s most influential design duo, who have masterminded everything from the New York subway to the logos for Bloomingdales and Ford.

Don’t miss ?

-?????? Smithfield Square’s transformation into a stunt scene (there may be explosions). It’s going to be action movie-worthy.

-?????? Jaws is this year’s CultFilm Club movie and Richard Dreyfuss will be there.

Popcorn at the ready!
