Fully Caffeinated Gifts For the Most Discerning Coffee Addicts

Fully Caffeinated Gifts For the Most Discerning Coffee Addicts

We all know them. Coffee bores. Their internal circuitry contains a precise map of where they are at any given time in relation to all the best coffee shops. Land them anywhere and they can tell you how far they are from proper Java. Their cupboards rarely yield actual foodstuffs but they groan with equipment from grinders and weird shaped filters to esoteric measuring devices. Needless to say, they are also on a first-name basis with award-winning baristas at all the major players- Bear Market, Coffeeangel, Kaph and 3FE.

But, still, we love them (and the smell and sound of them knocking around the kitchen every morning in pursuit of the perfect homebrew).

So what to get the caffophile who knows it all? Beautiful kit and quality beans, that’s what.

Jaw-drop. This neat box of unadulterated luxury is the be-all and end-all: pure Irish linen tablerunner and herringbone napkins from the girls at Stable, a pair of stoneware cups from Sligo’s O’Riain Pottery, a walnut tray and of course, this year’s limited edition Christmas blend Su Nollaig.

Coffeeangel Bosca Lomhara Gift Box, €150

Heartbreakingly pretty and simple, this brass Coffee Drip Stand, is a one cup wonder, £120.

Super useful, these clever clips will smarten up all those open bags,  set Brass Clips– £6.50.

It’s hard to argue with a classic and the ultra-smooth finish the fabulously low-tech Chemex is famous for, €61.50.

A monthly subscription will keep people happy long after Christmas and introduce them to new tastes. There are a lot of them out there but we like the way 3Fe delivers the first sampler to you so you have something tangible to put under the tree (opt for a six or twelve month plan, from €65) . Or try Cloud Pickers’ monthly selection, €70.

Everyone needs a spill-proof re-usable cup that really keeps their bev of choice piping hot. The world’s first barrista-standard model fits under machine heads and comes in an array of colourways but the more natural, the better. Keepcup,  €22
