Fringe Festival

It’s FRINGE season! Get ready thespians, theatre lovers or those of you looking for something a little different this September. The FRINGE festival’s programme is a cracker this year; think art, theatre, dance, trapeze artistry (yes, really.) Here are our three top FRINGE shows to watch this week.

DOLLS_

DOLLS?This is the highly anticipated production directed by former FRINGE wunderkind Sorcha Kenny. Five real-life dolls will take to the stage for this movement piece and theatre experience, a reflection on women in society. This is definitely one to see and one which we predict will be a FRINGE award nominee ??At Project Arts Centre; preview September 11 (?10) 21:00; performances from September 12-16 (?12 conc) 21:00; Duration 60 mins

TheSecretArtofMurderweb

The Secret Art of Murder? For conspiracy lovers; Rob McDermott stars in this history-inspired piece based on the suspicious death of Elizabethan playwright Christopher Marlowe. Director Conor Madden (of last year’s FRINGE festival Elevator fame) directs McDermott in the beautiful setting of Smock Alley Theatre. At Smock Alley Boys? School; performances from September 15-21 (?11 conc) 21:15; Duration 60 mins

EXIT_STRATEGY_.

Exit Strategy? The Corkonian theatre company making waves down south have, thankfully, made their way to Fringe this year with a part-show part-game piece that’ll make you question the decisions you make. One of the show’s actors? Eszther Nemithi says ?It started from a fascination with the’very false promise of the “grass is greener” idea ??that there is a place you can buy a ticket to where everything will be instantly better.? We can vouch for thought-provoking fun with this.?At The New Theatre; performances from September 11-14 (?12 conc) 1pm; Duration 90 mins
