Gin lovers rejoice.

World Gin Day is coming up on June 8th, which is basically a wonderful excuse to take yourself out for a nice drink or two this weekend. Whether you’re looking for long lists of gin and tonic matches or some crafty cocktail there’s plenty to choose from in Dublin, but these five spots all offer something a little more for the diehard gin fans out there. And they’re also just nice places to drink. Cheers to that…

57 The Headline & No. 57 Gin Bar

57 The Headline is a cool local pub off Clanbrassil Street with a world-class gin offering of over 100 different bottles with a particular focus on Irish options. On the weekend they open their upstairs bar, a candlelit cosy affair perfect for sipping on their extensive selection which includes their own gin, No. 57 Irish Gin. This weekend, to celebrate World Gin Day, they’ll have an Irish Gin Baazar featuring Dingle Gin, Blacks of Kinsale, Bonac, Chinnery, Poachers tonic and lots more on Saturday from 2 pm. A perfect place to celebrate World Gin Day.

The Sidecar in The Westbury, Balfe St, Dublin 2

For a decadent drink, head to this glamorous 30’s style hotel cocktail bar. Well-known for offering a stellar cocktail list, their no-frills gin martinis are a must. They have a long list of signature gin and tonic serves featuring most of the top-notch brands and plenty of tonic options. Berthas Revenge with Cherry Blossom Thomas Henry tonic is divine. Gin fans should also enjoy their excellent version of the classic Singapore Sling.

The Gin Palace, 42 Middle Abbey St, Dublin 1

This old school pub with red walls is a fun place to drink. They also just happen to house the largest selection of gins in Dublin to boot. Choose from carefully curated gin and tonic pairings where they team local and world gins together with delicate flavours and suited tonics. They offer a tasting tray so you can get to try a few at once. The Gin Palace also do a fun cocktail menu that includes a Hendricks cocktail served in a teapot. There is literally something for every gin-drinker. A few visits might be necessary to just make a dent in the menu.

The Blind Pig & The Little Pig, Dublin 2

Sipping gin in a speakeasy is always fun. Both The Blind Pig and Little Pig are two great, hidden spots with serious drinks lists. You’ll need to book online before you turn up. Only then will you be given the exact location. Once you’ve located the secret door, settle into the decadent red velvet surrounds for top-notch gin cocktails, regarded as some of the best in the city. Choose from well-made elevated classics or go all out with the punch bowls if there’s a group of you.

The Mint Bar at the Westin

This gin-loving hotel bar, tucked away in the basement, was once the original vaults of an old bank. Now it’s a buzzy cocktail lounge where they love to celebrate all things gin. ‘Gin It Yourself’ with the GIY menu is where you can even choose your own concoctions from a wide selection of gin, tonic, garnishes and bitters. On Fridays, they run a weekly night called ‘Cool As a Cucumber’ where the focus is on gin of course and they offer bespoke Beefeater gin cocktails.
