Caitlyn Jenner Could Face Manslaughter Charge

By Jennifer McShane

Caitlyn Jenner Could Face Manslaughter Charge

Another week, another drama in the Jenner household, but this time it’s decidedly very serious. According to reports, Investigators are recommending that prosecutors file a vehicular manslaughter charge against Caitlyn Jenner for her role in the fatal Malibu, California, car crash that claimed the life of her neighbour Kim Howe in February.

The Los Angles Times reported that the reality star was driving at an unsafe speed when her Escalade hit Howe’s car on Feb. 7th, said Richard Curry of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Jenner was pulling an off-road vehicle on a trailer and had to suddenly slow as vehicles in front stopped. Curry said Jenner was complying with the speed limit but moving too fast for the road conditions that day. Howe died at the scene after Jenner’s SUV hit her car and sent it into the path of a Hummer coming in the opposite direction.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office will review the investigators? report and decide whether to charge Jenner. Typically, a single misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charge could carry a sentence of a year in jail, though reports are doubtful that Jenner would actually serve jail time.

Curry added that while Jenner was not driving above the speed limit, she was driving at “an unsafe speed” for the road conditions that day.

The tragic crash came before Jenner announced her gender transition. At the time, she was Bruce Jenner, best known as the father figure of the Kardashian family and 1976 Olympic decathlon gold medal winner.

Since then, Jenner has called the crash a ‘devastating tragedy,? and said, ?I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them.?

The grandchildren of the deceased have filed a lawsuit against Jenner, claiming that her actions were negligent. Jenner is due to appear in court over the incident next week, but has declined to comment on the charges.
