For the week that’s in it – Valentine’s week – it seems fitting to end it with news that makes us feel good. And even though the news may be down to something as simple as a cast reuniting on a film that’s beloved by many, it seems enough.
The internet slash world had a mini-meltdown when the organisers of the UK’s Red Nose Day announced something quite major: ?The stars of Love Actually will reunite for a special “sequel” on 24th March. Yes, almost all of the film’s stars ?? Keira Knightley, Martine McCutcheon, Bill Nighy, Rowan Atkinson, Liam Neeson and Colin Firth are coming together to revisit the film’s characters and see what they’re up to in 2017, fourteen years after the original film.
It is a movie that still brings people cheer for its lovely depiction of, well, love. That was its premise; to depict love in its many forms and ultimately?have you leave the cinema?feeling uplifted – and probably madder than you should have been at the late, great Alan Rickman’s Harry (who will be and is still sorely missed). But how did things pan out for the characters? That’s what we’re about to find out.
They’ve already begun filming and thanks to Emma Freud, one of the original film’s scriptwriters and director of Red Nose Day, sharing pictures of some of the cast on set for the first day of shooting, we get to see how some of the cast has grown. Remember the endearing father-son duo Liam Neeson and Thomas Brodie-Sangster? It looks like we’ll finally get to see if Leeson’s love advice to his adorable on-screen son Sam, paid off?because here they are:

And oh, the advice may have as here is Sam’s love interest Joanna, played by Olivia Olson:

It’s all happening! But what we’d really like to know is, will the brilliant Bill Nighy do a comeback special and belt out Christmas is All Around, even though it is de facto, not Christmas?
Or will we get the 2017 remix to this?
We selfishly hope for both and can’t wait for #rednosedayactually.
