Calling all who bake (and those who wish they could): the Great British Bake Off is back tonight (yay!), and hence our Wednesday nights will be filled with the glares of Paul Hollywood, the twinkle of Mary Berry, soggy bottoms and cake, delicious cake. We look at five Instagram accounts that are the perfect scrolling accompaniment during Bake Off season.
Joy The Baker
Further proof one should never scorn the home baker. A Louisiana-based home-taught baker who’s got one cookbook out and another coming soon. With recipes like brown butter and pistachio doughnuts (a personal favourite), you’ll get absorbed in her feed for hours and be tempted to put on your baker’s hat too we bet.
Magnolia Bakery
The new Magnolia Bakery temporary tattoos are here to spice up your weekend! #tgif #20yrsofswirls

Whenever we weren’t moaning about Carrie’s grossly unrealistic writer lifestyle in SATC, we couldn’t help but notice the ladies lunched and brunched a whole lot. We lost count of the cocktails consumed, but everyone remembers Magnolia Bakery. Remember when Carrie and Miranda got cupcakes and chatted about Aidan? Well, this very chat was outside Magnolia Bakery. Follow this exists-in-real-life joint’s Insta for some seriously US of A cookie ice cream sandwiches and drool-worthy cupcakes.
Nigella Lawson
Because we could never not put her on our list. We’ll be seeing this salted chocolate tart in our dreams tonight.

Ruby, class of 2013, is one of GBBO’s most recognisable contestants (she is quite the legend after coming out on Twitter and battling an eating disorder) and The Guardian columnist and bake off extraordinaire is constantly experimenting with her recipes; just look at this soft banana cake.
Ladur?e Macaroons
The most famous macaroons of them all and one technical challenge that sends a cold shiver of fear through even the most competent GBBO contestant. Delicate, light and available in an array of flavours and similar cake-based treats, we dare you to visit the store on South William Street without buying multiple boxes.
