Alternative Valentine’s Day Events Guide

love me tinder poster

Tinder parties are now a thing…

Tinder is the opposite of the word ‘fetch’, it’s happening and all your complaining talk of romance dying isn’t going to kill the app. The folks over at the Bernard Shaw are tapping into the power of Tinder. This Valentine’s Day singletons will get a free glass of prosecco when they show their Tinder profile at the bar from 7pm. And then you’re free to mix and talk to people in real life. Such novelty! To help move things along the DJ promises to blare D?Angelo.

Check out that Blue Moon

The Blue Moon Lost Wednesdays events series in the uber cool RHA Gallery has been garnering quite the reputation. Tonight sees Hog ?n? Pop join the beer company in the Royal Hibernian Gallery for a showcase of art, comedy and food while DJs play and live bands serenade you, only in a really cool non-Valentine’s way. There is complimentary beer from the Bluen Moon folks and a hog roast, yes, from Hog ?n? Pog. Dancing, amazing art, pork – who said this week had to be dominated by overpriced menus and boxes of Milk Tray nabbed hastily from Apple Green? For more details see the Facebook page.

Let Madness take its toll

The Rocky Horror Picture Show might not be an obvious choice for a Valentine’s Day movie trip, but that’s part of its zany, hyper-sexualised charm. The Sugar Club on Dublin’s Leeson Street is throwing a shindig this Saturday night, where the cult film will be screened. There will be burlesque. There will be a costume competition. There will be candy. Let’s do the time warp and forget the Mr. Grey and his dull suits ever existed.
