65-Year-Old Woman Gives Birth To Quadruplets

A 65-year-old German woman has given birth to quadruplets (yes, four babies). She welcomed the new additions to her already massive family yesterday, according to reports. Annegret Raunigk had three boys and one girl. The news was announced by RTL, a German TV network on Saturday afternoon.

This now makes her the world’s oldest mother of quadruplets. She already has 13 kids so the new babies make it 17.

We’re tired just thinking about it. But seriously, how does she manage with 17?! She’s likely a pro at this stage, but having four at such a late stage must take its toll on her body. ?And though many women are deciding to have children later in life today, we’re not sure how we’d feel having four new babies at 65! To say she’s a tad too old is probably stretching it a little, but on the other hand, it’s rather amazing that it happened successfully.

She reportedly gave birth to three boys, named Dries, Bence and Fjonn, and one girl, Neeta. The babies are currently being cared for in a hospital in Berlin, as they were born 26 weeks premature.

According to the New York Post, she that she became pregnant after trying several artificial insemination procedures in Ukraine.? When the initial news of her pregnancy hit the headlines in April, she was quoted as saying she wanted to have another child because her nine-year-old daughter wanted another sibling.

Apparently, her decision was criticised?by medical professionals (but obviously not all of them as someone had to do the procedure for her), which we definitely understand. The risks for both mother and child at that age are huge. Annegret is said to be doing well and the doctors are keeping a close eye on the quadruplets. We hope the babies are okay.

On a less important level, the woman must not get an ounce of time to herself.? On the plus side, the eldest siblings might be able to help out.

What do you think? How old is too old?
