5 Reasons to Fancy Tom

5 Reasons to Fancy Tom

First Loki, and now possibly Sherlock? We list the reasons why we adore the British actor…

1. He might be joining the cast of Sherlock as a Holmes brother

Is this the best casting rumour we’ve ever heard? Image.ie are a team dedicated to?Sherlock. We also have massive crushes on Tom Hiddleston. Our faces when we heard that Tom?might be joining the cast of the hit BBC show? Beaming. Fanatics and tv insiders are speculating upon the casting of the rumoured third Holmes brother, Sherrinford, a character not in official canon but then again neither was Sherlock Holmes communicating by text. If this turns out to be true it means more gifs like this. Benedict Cumberbatch and Hiddleston are longtime pals and starred in Steven Spielberg’s?War Horse together in 2011.

2. He’s a total nerd

Tom Hiddleston simply is Loki, the dark prince of Asgard and superhero Thor’s brother with an affinity for attempts at world domination. When Joss Whedon sent Tom the script for Avengers, the thespian replied with possibly the nicest email ever full of praise for the words he had just devoured. ?The first time I read it I grabbed at it like Charlie Bucket snatching for a golden ticket somewhere behind the chocolate in the wrapper of a Wonka Bar.? Roald Dahl inspired comparisons inspire our endless affection. Tom finished off the email with an amazing signature too, ?But really I’m just sending you a transatlantic shout-out and fist-bump, things that traditionally British actors probably don’t do. It’s epic.?

There was this appearance at last year’s Comic Con that got the crowds chanting the famous villain’s name:

3. His status as a gentleman is a universal truth at this stage

Exhibit A: At Comic Con earlier this week the director Guillermo del Toro, who is working with Hiddleston on the gothic thriller?Crimson Peak, said, “I must tell you girls, Tom Hiddleston is the nicest fucking guy on Earth. It used to be in the past that you were either nice, or you were good-looking and an asshole. Now that barrier is ruined.”

Exhibit B: Who could forget last year’s GQ Awards when the actor posed with Emma Watson after her win for Woman of the Year? Notice how he keeps his hand away from her bare midriff. Tom Hiddleston is the type of man who understands boundaries.

4. He can dance

Wasn’t there talk a while ago about a Dirty Dancing remake? Might we suggest transporting the action from the Catskill Mountains to Brighton?

And he can sing!

5. The boy speaks French

We have a theory that Bradley Cooper’s career really hit those stratospheric heights as soon as he let the fluency loose on French television. Hiddleston’s proficiency has flown somewhat under the radar so we’re righting wrongs now.

If you have any Tom Hiddleston gifs to hand, please share. In the meantime we leave you with this photo of him on a horse like an as-of-yet unwritten Disney prince. Swoon is the word.
