5 Bakeries That Make Us Want To Have Our Cake And Eat It

Antoinette’s?Bakery

a

Owner and baker Sinead Vaughan is the gluten-free, wheat-free goddess of Kevin Street. This little slice?(sorry-not- sorry) of heaven doesn’t compromise on taste or flavour. My personal favourite treat from Antoinette’s?Bakery is the almond and coffee cupcake. The happy-go-lucky staff are always inviting and helpful too.?Find out more here and follow them here.

Il Valentino Bakery &?Cafe

il

This is the holy grail of pastry delicatessens. I remember an old ex-girlfriend of my brother (awkward) got a box of breakfast pastries’delivered to our house once, and not only did they stay fresh and crunchy until the following day but the pastry was perfectly golden brown, sweet (but not too sweet) and hella-buttery. You shouldn’t have broken up with her, bro. Asides from delicious pastries Il Valentino, located at Grand Canal Dock, also sells a selection of freshly baked bread, bespoke cakes, and bespoke honey. Find out more here, or follow them here.

The Rolling Donut

r

Okay, forgive me, I know The Rolling Donut has been around quite a while (founded by Michael Quinlan – the original Irish donut connoisseur – in 1978), but only recently did I take a bite into spherical heaven (Nutella donut – do it.). The most iconic Rolling Donut kiosk is located on O’Connell street; where it has remained for the last 40 years. A third cafe recently opened on Bachelors Walk, opposite O’Connell Street bridge. To see their full selection of donuts click here, or follow them here.

Lolly And Cooks

L

Hidden in the back of The Georges Street Arcade, Lolly And Cooks is a gorgeous alternative for an afternoon, guilt-free snack. Healthy and clean eating is at the core of their baking mentality, so what they lack in fats and salts, they make up for in great taste and good, fresh ingredients. To see their full menu click here or follow them here.

Love Supreme

love

Nestled in the urban neighbourhood of Stoneybatter, Love Supreme?is the new kids on the block for artisan pastry and dishes and bespoke coffee. This tiny little oasis offers is a great spot for a slow Saturday afternoon or a Sunday morning breakfast. Coffees are their speciality (serving beans from Denmark, Mexico, England, Vietnam, and Ireland), but their pastry collection is definitely on par. I recommend trying out these croissants: milk chocolate and rose salted or salted caramel and bee pollen. To find out more about Love Supreme click here, or follow them here.
