3 Rooms With a View

Any architect worth their salt knows that light and views are among the most important aspects of any building. Maximising the sunnier spots of an Irish home is a fine art; here are three light-filled homes from our house tours that got it right…

Rooms With View 01

1. THE CENTREPIECE VIEW. The carefully curated home of?Pearl Collins, founder of Pearl & Godiva, and her family makes the absolute most of the natural beauty of the surrounding area. Their four bedroom new build?in West Cork boasts fabulous views; pictured above?is the stunning vista from the’dining table, which they have made the centrepiece of the home, looking towards Sheha and Nowen Hill.

2. THE RELAXING VIEW. Corrinna and Richard Moore’s semi-detached Victorian villa in Dalkey boasts envy-inducing views from Dublin Bay across to Howth, and this couple certainly know what to do with a bay window. They’ve restored the vintage shutters and created cosy chaise longue-worthy nooks that are perfect for relaxing in.

3. THE ALL-DAY VIEW. Having traded the big smoke for a surf-side pad by the sea, Emily and Dave Lynas had their heart set on sea views. After buying in the ideal location?on Portstewart beach they got their wish, replacing the windows and extending their 1930s house to create a light and airy kitchen and living room area overlooking the sea.
