The final, pre-Christmas build up is now upon us and we’re reaching peak excitement levels! As part of our collaboration with the lovely folk at Arnotts, where you can shop for every single loved one under one roof, over the next 12 days we’ll be catching up with some of Ireland’s most familiar names, finding out what Christmas means for them and what they’ll be wishing for. Today we take a time-out with one of Ireland’s most loved stylists (and author!) Lisa Fitzpatrick.

What is your earliest memory of Christmas?
Getting a cash register and a table and chair set and feeling the happiest, luckiest girl ever. I also vividly remember going to see Santa at Arnotts.

Describe your perfect Christmas?
Time with my family, food and lots of wine. We always have a big family Christmas Day it’s always super special.

What do you like most about Christmas – the build up or the week itself?
I love the few days before, but I love when the Christmas buzz starts in stores in town; I’m really cheesy and I love Christmas music too.

What are the essentials in the Fitzpatrick household when it come to Christmas day dinner?
My favourite job is styling our Christmas table; I change it every year. I must admit there is nothing like turkey sandwiches later that evening. When it comes to the traditional dinner I cook the full works.

What does Christmas mean for you?
For me it’s all about taking my foot of the gas, absolutely. I really switch off , enjoying movies in my PJs with the kids, box sets with my husband and fire lighting; it’s my absolute favourite time of the year for family fun, friends and shopping in the sales after Christmas in the hope of nabbing a bargain. I love the excitement of getting something I’ve had my eye on for ages that finally gets reduced in the sale.

What presents are you hoping to buy this year for your nearest and dearest?
I’ve already wrapped six presents! I’m particularly busy work wise until the holidays, so I’m picking up gifts and crossing off my list, I was working in Arnotts doing a style workshop recently and I bought three gifts: stunning gloves, a scarf and a candle.

What’s on your own wishlist?
I’d love beauty products. I’d also love a new headphone set and this year at 43 I’m looking for a silk pillow; apparently they’re good for preventing wrinkles. Well, more wrinkles.
