There’s a new, clean, sustainable and vegan skincare brand on the market and we’re dying to try it

Elixinol’s vegan skincare line comes in recyclable packaging and contains a game-changing ingredient, CBD oil, which studies show can work as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-ageing agent.

With an overwhelming amount of skincare brands available, it’s difficult to find the right fit for your skin type.

I have encountered this problem my entire life. Since puberty, I’ve struggled with acne flare-ups and unfortunately, at 13 years old, I was completely ignorant of harmful skincare ingredients.

After a strict regimen of using harsh acne-fighting products in my teens, my skin was left scarred and an unfortunate cherry red hue.

And now my biggest problem has been finding a skincare line that proactively tackles recurring acne but with gentle, all-natural ingredients.

Sustainable, natural and gender-neutral

Enter Elixinol’s new skincare range, which not only ticks those boxes but also comes in gender-neutral, recyclable packaging. That means no ridiculous pink tax!

Called Elixinol Skin, these are cannabinoid products composed of natural, restorative ingredients like hemp seed oil, avocado oil, chamomile, aloe vera, rosehip extract and shea butter.

Benefits of CBD oil

What particularly drew me to these products was their inclusion of CBD oil. I had never used CBD-infused skincare products before, so I decided to follow up with some research.

One study, published in The Journal of Clinic Investigation, found that CBD has potential as an anti-inflammatory and anti-acne agent. As well as finding that CBD can be “highly effective” at attacking acne, it also “exerts universal anti-inflammatory actions”. The results found that “CBD has potential as a promising therapeutic agent for the treatment of acne”.

These results, plus the fact that CBD oil is all-natural, is a rare find in the skincare market and I’m eager to try it.

The products

Elixinol Skin currently has eight products: a cleansing balm, skin tonic, rejuvenating serum, day cream, night cream, miracle oil, eye contour and face masks.

And thankfully, we don’t have to worry about that distinctive smell that usually characterises hemp. The products are infused with lavender and lemon oils to leave you feeling fresh and ready for the day. Also, that it is totally vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free and sulfate-free makes it that much better.

Seems like I may have finally found the answer to all my skin woes.

Elixinol‘s CBD-infused range, including its much-hailed miracle oil, is now finally available in Ireland, exclusively at Boots.
