The ultimate skin prep that you can do while you binge-watch Netflix

Planning a Netflix night in? Indulge yourself in a self-care night, treating your skin to some much needed luxury.

Besides daily walks and trips to the shop, there’s not much we can do while restricting our movements.

And with short, winter days, we end up spending most evenings indoors, clicking through TV channels or Netflix’s newest shows.

So why not make the most of it and treat yourself to a night of pampering?

We’ve created the ultimate guide to skin prep while you’re binging on your favourite show, detoxing your complexion from the inside out.

1. Cleanse

Start by cleansing your skin with a gentle exfoliant. The Olay Cleanse, Detox & Glow Daily Polish Cleanser has amazing reviews. It purifies pores, eliminating dull and dead skin cells for brighter skin and a beautifully glowing complexion.

It is also enriched with nutrients like vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps protect skin from free radical damage, and pro-vitamin B5, an anti inflammatory that keeps skin healthy and moisturised.

2. Mask

As you probably know, masks are a great way to deep clean and treat your skin. After you cleanse, apply a mask that works best for your complexion. For example, if you have been struggling with winter dryness, opt for one with hydrating ingredients like avocado oil and aloe vera.

A good general one to use is the Olay Regenerist Overnight Miracle Firming Mask. It’s designed to work over a number of hours, making it the perfect binge watch wear. Enriched with vitamin B3, peptides and green tea extract, it penetrates deep into the surface, plumping your skin with moisture and reviving your skin’s elasticity. Just apply generously, tissue off excess and leave a thin layer on before you settle into your show.

3. Detox

While your mask works, prepare some snacks. After all, it wouldn’t be a proper movie night without them. But instead of the sugar-filled jellies and salty crisps, try substituting healthier, equally delicious treats. Here’s what we recommend:

Sweet potato fries and guacamole dip

Sweet potatoes are high in Vitamin A, which helps promote healthy skin cells, aids in hyaluronic acid production, improves texture and elasticity and boosts collagen production.

Avocados are a great anti ageing ingredient as well. They contain Vitamin E and selenium, fuelling healthy blood vessels, clearing toxins and preventing premature ageing in your pores.

Gluten-free jaffingtons

These gluten and dairy-free almond cakes are a healthier alternative to store-bought sweets. Rather than butter, the recipe uses the creaminess of boiled whole oranges (Vitamin C helps collagen production and regulates colour issues in the skin).

Also, the fatty acids in almonds hydrate pores from the inside out and protect skin from environmental damage, leaving a fresh and healthy glow. Fatty acids are also essential for effective detoxification.

4. Moisturise

After rinsing your mask, be sure to hydrate your skin with a vitamin and peptide-infused moisturiser. If you are prepping your skin in the evening, use a retinol product so that it can work overnight. Olay’s Regenerist Retinol24 night cream absorbs quickly and goes deep into your skin’s surface layers, visibly improving fine lines and wrinkles, brightening dark spots and minimising pores, so you can wake up to younger-looking, glowing skin.

If it’s during the day, try something lighter like Olay Regenerist Whip. It also has SPF – a must for day creams to protect from sun damage.

5. Binge

Netflix

Finally, sit back, relax and enjoy your Netflix night in with a fresh and pampered complexion. Our favourite, binge-worthy shows right now are period drama Bridgerton and true crime series Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer.

Don’t forget to drink lots of water and stay hydrated! Eight glasses a day, keeps the dry skin away.
