The best beauty looks on the Spring 2018 Couture runways.
Maison Margiela
When it comes to futuristic, out-of-this-world creativity, John Galliano and Pat McGrath are the dream team. McGrath created reflective holographic lips, bionic and non-existant bleached brows, and made a geometric holographic pressing that swept from model’s jawline to forehead.
Chanel
The Chanel Haute Couture show, set in a French rose garden, was the first breath of spring; all tulle veil hats, pastel tweeds and floral embroidery, with an equally blooming beauty look – a pink palette of dusky rose blush, intense peony-pink lips and dewy, glowing skin.
Dior
Maria Grazia Chiuri’s incarnation of avant-garde artist Leonor Fini surreal designs were perfectly paired with Peter Philips’ contrasting beauty look; a glowing, natural complexion and rosy lips with graphic, showstopping liner. “Salvador Dali and Man Ray as well as the German photographer Grete Stern are all references for me. Their artistic freedom inspired an extreme, excessive eye design. I created a graphic projection of the eyelashes by over-exaggerating them in the extreme. Long, precise lashes were drawn onto the upper and lower eyelids, framing the eyes and stretching exaggeratedly towards the temples,” said Peter Philips, @peterphilipsmakeup, Creative and Image Director of Christian Dior Makeup.
Valentino
Pier Paolo Piccioli’s vibrant ruffles, feathers and bows, and Philip Treacy’s headpieces were outshined at Valentino by
Pat McGrath creation – brushed-up brows and a lavender lip using her very own Pat McGrath Labs Matte Trance Lipstick in Faux Pas.
Jean Paul Gaultier
How does beauty look at Jean Paul Gaultier’s circus of spiral dresses and optical illusions on rue Saint Martin? Psychedelic – Stephane Marais created glossy black lips and swooping black liner as mystical as hairstylist’s Odile Gilbert’s swirling hair sculptures.
Iris Van Herpen
At Iris Van Herpen, MAC’s Director of Makeup Artistry Terry Barber took fresh, clean skin and added small accents of luminous, high impact colours under the eye in radioactive yellow, acid green and electric blue.
Viktor & Rolf
At Viktor & Rolf, bold graphic prints and stripes juxtaposed with Peter Philip’s satin-skinned look with holographic glittering criss-cross eyes in vivid shades.
Giambattista Valli
Giambattista Valli’s models walked in overflowing lucid toned tulles paired with naturally textured hair and fresh, lit-from-within skin.
Guo Pei
MAC Global Senior Artist Debbie Finnegan heavily painted liquid gold accents, azure blue glossy eye make-up, dazzling fallen glitter particles and bright white paint on eyes at Chinese couturier Guo Pei’s gilded haute couture runway show.
Alexis Mabille
The red-carpet runway at Alexis Mabille’s couture show matched the palette of purple and pinks make-up artist Lloyd Simmons used to drape vibrant red blush across high cheekbones and create a fire engine red lip that packed a punch.
