Why Oil Cleansers Are Great For Your Face This Winter

Why Oil Cleansers Are Great For Your Face This Winter

Facial oils?are now very popular on the beauty market, but I’m always surprised at how many don’t opt to use them, and it’s likely down to the common beauty myth that oil is the enemy; it’s heavy, greasy and wreaks havoc on our skin, clogging our pores. But oil as we know it isn’t the same as it used to be; advances in beauty and the ability to refine oil have led to cosmetic-grade oils that are light as a feather (the consistency of water), very emollient and residue free. And if you’re still concerned about pore-clogging, naturally derived oils such as coconut, grapeseed, and avocado are healthy when they’re applied to clean skin and definitely won’t cause congestion.?They are,?in this writer’s humble opinion, vastly under-rated when it comes to reviving your skin.

Tip: You can also start small. For an extra skin boost, try mixing two or three drops directly in with your go-to moisturiser for an instant glow.

Now is the time of year when your face needs some extra TLC as the changing weather can strip skin of its natural oil. A good quality oil will be naturally rich in fatty acids and antioxidants and will instantly soften your skin and can help with anti-ageing too – marula oil is often touted as the holy grail of anti-ageing oils. It should lock in moisture where your skin needs it and bear in mind, that most oils are blends and work in different ways so do not assume they are all for dry skin – they work for oily and combination too.

Below are four facial oils that will rescue your tired, flaky skin over the coming months:

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Oil, €45

The nightly treatment plumps up parched skin and leaves it more soft and supple – exactly what winter calls for. But take care; one or two drops max is all you need.

Creme De La Mer’s Renewal Oil, €180

Renewal-Oil-High-Res-1

This is pricey, but so, so worth it and is an incredibly potent potion is so much more than a one-trick pony; it’s multi-faceted.?Packed with their renowned ?Miracle Broth?, this product has been formulated first and foremost for the face but is so effective they recommend use on everything from your hair to your body and even your nails. The broth, derived from the sea, married with a youth renewing ferment will restore your skin’s natural, youthful glow as well as reduce fine lines.

Una Brennan’s?Superfacialist Rose Miracle Makeover Facial Oil, €19.99

This is a pre-cleanse treatment facial oil formulated with Avocado and Carrot oils, and hydrating Raspberry oil. ?The potent blend assists in eliminating impurities from the skin while encouraging natural cell regeneration. Easily absorbed, it will leave even the most sensitive skin feeling cleansed, recharged and supple.

Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil, €38
