Model with Down Syndrome becomes new brand ambassador for Benefit

We love when a brand supports diversity and inclusivity in their work, and Benefit is the latest to enter our highlight reel.

The beauty brand has selected 20-year-old Kate Grant to be a new brand ambassador, and she is now featuring in their new Roller Liner campaign. Kate, who has Down Syndrome, is already a successful model in her own right, having been crowned the winner of the Teen Ultimate Beauty of the World pageant.

The Tyrone-native also appeared on ITV's This Morning and has walked the runway at Belfast Fashion Week.

Speaking to metro.co.uk, Kate's mother Deirdre said: "She is paving the way for people coming behind her. Kate is aware of that and wants to spread awareness about inclusion for people with disabilities, and that is what she has done from the very start.

"She's aware that she is able to do that in a way some of her friends can't. She is using her voice for them."

She continued, "When you are young you think the sky is the limit, and with Kate, she does not have the understanding that we have, that there are obstacles in the way. She does not allow obstacles to be in the way – or her disability to stand in the way. She would say 'Down Syndrome does not define me – I am Kate'."

Benefit Cosmetics is one of the most successful beauty brands in the world, with its products being sold in more than 30 countries worldwide. We highly commend them for what they are doing and hope more beauty brands take note.
