My Life In Beauty: Marija Aslimoska, Creative Director of Parfumarija

Confronted with so many choices and beauty counters, it's always interesting to find out what products an industry insider uses herself.  Founder and creative director of Parfumarija, Marija Aslimoska shares her regime with HOLLY O’NEILL.

The first thing I put on my skin in the morning...

Biologique Recherche P50W Exfoliator, €63, followed by Crème VIP O2, €145.

The last beauty related thing I do before going to bed...

These very silly facial exercises where I fill my cheeks and mouth with air so I look like a fish and keep my cheeks and face extended for a few seconds. Then I exhale and repeat about 10 times. Someone told me this is how the ladies in Japan keep their faces so beautiful.

The products always on my nightstand...

It changes from Sudocrem (I have two babies) to coconut oil (I love applying it to my lips before going to bed). I use Rose Water by Santa Maria Novella, €21, for spraying my bed sheets or putting on my face. It calms me down.

The best beauty advice I ever received...

To stop the habit of washing my face under the hot water in the shower, as this breaks your capillaries in your face. I have only used cold water since then.

My lifelong lipstick love...

Chanel New York Red. It’s sadly discontinued, but I still have a half left and use it for special occasions. I know, I know, it may go off, but…

The foundation I always use, or always return to...

Chanel Vitalumière, €47. I love how liquid it is, and even though being told it is not for my skin type, I love it. It’s very natural looking and gives this dewy look and slight shine, which I associate with youthful skin. I get the most compliments on my face when I wear it, which is not every day – I am so bad at finding time to apply make-up.

Everyone should try...

Dry brushing their legs first thing in the morning. When I feel like I need to tone the skin on my legs, this works like a miracle. I also like cold showers when trying to tighten my skin, especially my tummy and legs.

I’ve always wanted to...

Start running, but I just don’t have it in me.

The beauty appointment I never miss...

My facial appointment with Olga at Skin by Olga. She’s always booked for the next three months, so if you miss your chance, you really missed it.

The first beauty product I ever bought...

Concealer when I was about ten. I unknowingly used it on my lips thinking it was a lipstick. I thought that I looked very smart wearing it.

The worst beauty mistake I ever made...

Dying my hair red in my early twenties. It was not done with good products, so my hair just looked fried. Terrible look.

My signature scent...

It changes with the season, time of the day, who I am meeting. I wish I had one that people would recognise me by, but life is too short to commit to one perfume when there are so many beautiful ones. The one you would find me wearing most often is Jubilation 25 by Amouage, €270.

The first perfume I loved...

Tommy Girl by Tommy Hilfiger. I was 12 when it came out, and it was a present from my sister, and my most precious possession at the time. Even though I don’t wear it now, I always have a bottle of it at home so that I can smell it. It instantly brings me back to being that girl again.

I never travel without...

At least three different perfumes. For day, night, and my favourite at that time. If I am flying only with hand luggage, I always have a handful of samples I bring with me.

I take my make-up off with...

The Rose Water from Santa Maria Novella.

My weird make-up hack...

I just bought an eyeliner stamp to save time, so if you see me looking like Amy Winehouse, that’s why.

Hair musts...

Shampoo, conditioner and masks from Oribe.

The last beauty item I bought...

I was in Liberty in London recently and a lovely girl showed me Eye Base by Trish McEvoy, €27, which I now use daily instead of eye shadow, as it has subtle shimmer and makes eyes look fresh instantly.

To me, being healthy means...

Feeling positive about your life. This is achieved by eating well, sleeping enough, hydrating, finding time to relax, and enjoying your work.

I feel most beautiful when...

My husband squeezes my derrière while I am cooking.

My diet philosophy is...

Fish, lots of vegetables and lots of water.

I’d really like to try…

Going blonde. Perhaps one day I’ll find the courage – my long brown hair has been my signature.

Three current obsessions...

My family. My business. And finding little-known fashion labels so I can be unique. I just ordered a pair of shoes from a Korean brand that very few have heard of and can’t wait to receive them.
