Five Irish beauty experts weigh in on budget-friendly false lashes

False lashes are an integral part of many women's make-up bags, but the market is crowded and it can be difficult to know which ones are best.

We caught up with five beauty experts (each of whom lives and breathes all things lash-care), to find out their thoughts on budget-friendly strip lashes.

Thereasa Arcari, a lash artist at The Lash Boutique, says, "Ardell Wispies Invisibands are my all time favourite. I’ve been using these for years and they suit all eye shapes. I love the fact the band is invisible, so it makes the strip lash feel so light and flexible when applying. It always fits snuggly along your lash line too and looks amazing!"

She goes on to say, "If you’re looking for something a little more natural, I recommend the Ardell Corner Invisiband lashes #318. I use these a lot myself. They are so easy and quick to apply – especially if you’re not very confident at applying a full strip lash. These are the perfect alternative and give that lovely flutter on the outer corner of the eye; and because they are so light, you forget you are wearing fake lashes. I find these are very popular," Thereasa tells us.

Sueann O'Leary from The Velvet Rooms prefers wearing SoSueMe lashes in the 'Sophia' style. "I feel they suit my eye shape and give me a natural-but-finished look," she says. These false lashes are developed with 100% human hair and blend in beautifully with your own natural lashes.

Meanwhile, Karen Buckley from Mimi's Beauty Room says, "I like salon system Lash Lux." These are described as ideal for clients who want the soft, tapered and silky effect of Russian lashes. The hairs have soft tips and are designed to give a wide-eyed look.

However, Elaine McParland at Up To My Eyes prefers to steer-clear of strip lashes. In her experience, they cause more hassle than they're worth.

"At Up To My Eyes, we have a love/hate relationship with strip lashes," she says, "as although they can look absolutely fabulous, they can also damage the natural lash. People tend to rip them out after a night on the town which pulls the natural lash out. We have seen lots of damage to eyelashes as a result of strip lashes and we would always recommend extreme care when removing them," Elaine advises.
