Dakota Johnson attends the official After Party Dinner for the EE British Academy Film Awards at The Grosvenor House Hotel on February 14, 2016 in London, England.

I will admit to being very one-note when it comes to Dakota Johnson’s red carpet appearances. The woman hasn’t put a foot wrong since she had to brave the world during the Fifty Shades?press tour and her regular make-up artist Pati Dubroff is my Instagram happy place.?She just nails it every time and last night’s turn at the BAFTA ceremony was another well done from me. Especially that red lip. Which is why Team IMAGE.ie has decided to celebrate the power of the red lipstick by rounding up the five products you can’t help but fall for.

Our personal favourites?

Rouge D’Armani in 401, Jeanne Sutton, Senior Features Editor

This is one of those femme fatale reds. You will feel like you’re in a stylised gangster movie and you’re the draped in furs moll that deserves to survive because you’ve got acres of moxie stored in your spine. Word of warning, the formula in this is loaded with moisture. That’s great because I find a lot of reds very drying, but you will need a liner to stop bleeding and it helps to apply with a brush. This is a grown-up girl product.

L”real Paris Colour Riche in Blake,?Jeanne Sutton, Senior Features Editor

The?L”real range of lipsticks inspired by its ambassadors is one of the best budget-friendly beauty products to come on the market in recent seasons. If you’re in search of the perfect daytime pink, seek out the just-frosty-enough Julianne, named after the always fabulous Julianne Moore. However, the Blake Lively inspired red, Blake, is a find. An old-school sensuous red.

Diego Dalla Palma in Deep Red,?Jeanne Sutton, Senior Features Editor

The Italian beauty brand Diego Dalla Palma is very underrated and deserves a bit more love now that we can get it in Marks & Spencer’s beauty hall. Their Deep Red lipstick makes me feel like Snow White, always a good thing for a Very Pale Irish Gal, although it can be a bit too bright for a daring morning look. Still, it has got great staying power and it’s worth a look if you want to broaden your brand horizon.

Ellie Balfe, IMAGE.ie Editor chooses MAC’s Russian Red:

“Russian Red by MAC is my one and only when it comes to crimson lips. Like something from the 1940’s, it is one of the classic pin-up shades – not too blue-based, not too orange-hued, it affects my pale skin tone with some sort of alchemy that brightens me up and makes me feel great. I wear it both day and night when I need that certain pick me up that only an amazing lipstick can offer.”

Meanwhile,?Deputy Editor Caroline Foran favours an orange tone:

“I tend to shy away from red lipstick unless I’ve got a bit of a tan, in which case my go to red is always MAC’s Lady Danger. I love how the orangey hue can make my eyes look even more blue and there’s little else required to complete your look apart from a slick of mascara and a touch of bronzer. It’s impossible not to feel ultra glam with this on your smackers.”
