Turns out, IMAGE staffers love masks, tanning drops and lots of moisture
How is your beauty routine looking these days?
In me right now, deep-seated in my bones, is a heavy dose of ennui. When it comes to beauty I haven't felt like this for all of this time. There were weeks when I had a strict tanning schedule, there were times when I sprayed perfume three times a day, weekends where I religiously gave myself a facial, days when I blowdried my hair. What I have stayed loyal to is red nail varnish. Something about playing salon on the couch, removing and filing and painting and ending up with gleaming, firetruck red fingernails gives me a lift.
I think, if you're using something religiously right now, it's a beauty hero.
At this point, these many, many months in, you've figured out your favourite everything. You're wearing your favourite clothes on rotation. You're eating the same meals over and over again. You're on the second watch of your favourite TV show. You're on the verge of a breakdown every time you realise you've gotten through your favourite underwear and now you've to wear the terrifying ones. Whatever beauty products you're using right now, those are your true beauty loves. You can junk that blue mascara and those old thongs and that fussy three-step exfoliator. You've got your routine down.
I love nothing more than to have a nosy about in other people's beauty rituals and I'm so curious about which products have stayed in the rotation of others these days, so I reached out to my colleagues to see how they’re doing, product wise, during quarantine.
Turns out, IMAGE staffers have no time for make-up right now. They're all obsessing over face oils, tanning drops and masks.
I pretty much go make-up-free most days, as I am just sitting at my desk in the living room. But, if I want to feel a bit less like a troll, I usually put on a layer of Dr Jart Cicapair Colour Correcting Treatment. My skin has a naturally red skin tone, and this evens it out and makes my skin look smooth and tan. And I never break out from it either. - Shayna Sappington, Editorial Assistant
I would normally wax lyrical about The Body Shop's Chamomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter a.k.a my desert island beauty product, but as I've not worn make-up at all during lockdown, it's been a bit neglected. I'm normally deathly pale at the best of times, but since I've been spending most of my time indoors, I've come around to the power of tanning drops. I use Tan-Luxe (just one or two mind you - any more would look ridiculous on me) in my evening moisturiser and apply all over my face and neck, and the next day it actually looks like I'm alive rather than having one foot in the grave. - Erin Lindsay, Deputy Digital Editor
I have been using the Glamglow Supermud Mask once a week religiously for the last few weeks. I got it online at Boots and I got the limited Barbie x Glamglow edition because of the pretty packaging (but it is the same as the original). It's a bit of an investment at €49 but it lasts for ages. I invested in a good mud mask as we have so much more time now to treat ourselves to long pamper sessions on dark winter evenings. I have noticed great results already and I've only been using it a couple of weeks. It is great for unclogging and minimising the look of pores. It is really satisfying as you can actually see where the dirt, toxins and impurities have been drawn out from the skin after 20 minutes. - Lucy Carroll, Senior Project Manager
I'm using the Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum religiously at the moment, between mixing it into my moisturiser in the morning or popping it on at night for some extra hydration while I sleep! I find this is the time of year when my skin starts to get so dehydrated and dry, so this is a saviour for me right now. - Ciara Hanrahan, Events & Branded Content Executive
