Here comes the sun.

MAKE-UP BY CHRISTINE LUCIGNANO

Dewy, glowing skin is always in style for summer, but for this season’s trends, try burnishing antique golds on the eyes, don’t be afraid to drape your blush right into your brows, and there’s always room for more colour.

“It’s hugely important to use a serum,” says make-up artist Christine Lucignano. “I don’t care if you’re four years of age. A good serum goes much deeper. The Chanel Hydra Beauty Sérum is nothing but hydration blasted into the deepest levels of the skin. On top of it, I used the Camelia Water Cream which is so hydrating. With hyaluronic acid you need something that attracts moisture so it makes sense to put your moisture on after the serum so the skin is so moist. There’s the slightest amount of sheen to it too.”

Skin prepared throughout with Hydra Beauty Camellia Water Cream, €54. Les Beiges Eau de Teint Water-Fresh Tint in Medium Light, €60. Duo Bronze et Lumiere in Clair, €60; Les 4 Ombres in Lumieres Naturelles, €53; Le Volume Revolution Mascara, €34; Rouge Coco Flash in Contraste, €36; double straw cap, €1,280; all Chanel.

“Throughout the shoot, I used the new Les Beiges Eau de Teint Water-Fresh Tint in Medium Light, €60,” says Christine. “This is a serum with pigment. I went in with the shade Light Medium, very softly using the brush. It’s a true tint, but depending on your skin type and environment, it’s different on everyone’s skin. So because the base today is very hydrated, the formula looks very dewy. I’m not sure the world is ready for how advanced and forward thinking this Les Beiges foundation is. It’s a hybrid of skincare and make-up.”

Ombre Premiere Gloss in Lunaire, €32; Rouge Coco Flash in Emotion, €36; Le Volume Revolution Mascara, €34; cotton blue and white top, €1,200; all Chanel.

“With bronzer,” says Christine, “once you have the product on your brush, always make sure to apply to your hand first. It will take off excess so you don’t deposit too much at once. Apply across the nose, not down it, near the hairline around the forehead and down across the cheekbones, and a little on the chin.”

Les 4 Ombres in Lumieres Naturelles, €53; Ombre Premiere Gloss in Solaire, €32; Le Volume Revolution Mascara, €34; Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in Infrarose, €36; ecru and black cotton top, €1,430; all Chanel.

“Apply your highlight to the high points of the face: on top of the brow, down the cheekbones, down the nose. You don’t want it to look sweaty, we like dewy,” says Christine. “I like it applied with a fingertip.”

Rouge Coco Flash in Fire, €36; Le Rouge Crayon de Couleur Mat in Provocation, €36; gold metal and orange lambskin medal earrings, €1,990; all Chanel.

“Don’t be afraid to apply a spotlight in the middle of the eye,” says Christine. “It bounces light into the iris and gives a gorgeous brightness to the eyes.”

Ombre Premiere Gloss in Lunaire, €32; Les 4 Ombres Multi-effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Quiet Revolution, €53; Le Volume Revolution Mascara, €34; Rouge Coco Flash in Furtive, €36; Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Pink Explosion, €40; black and silver cotton tweed jacket, €5,000; all Chanel.

“The shade Le Vernis in Open Air is like a muted periwinkle,” says nail artist Pamela Laird, “and the shade Le Vernis in Particuliere is the accent grey- beige shade. They give subtle summer vibes, for a more understated, demure way of wearing pastels this summer. For the accent on the nail, I used a striping brush, but you can just use the edge of the brush at an angle and swipe it across the nail, it doesn’t have to be too neat. The Chanel brush is really precise so you can get a nice curve on the edge of that.”

Duo Bronze et Lumiere in Clair, €60; Stylo Ombre Et Contour in Vague, €31; Les 4 Ombres in Lumieres Naturelles, €53; Rouge Coco Flash in Lumiere, €36; Le Vernis in Open Air 705, €25; Le Vernis in Particuliere 505, €25; all Chanel.
