Eight hero products for a long lasting blow-dry

Ah, Easter. There’s nothing like a four-day weekend to make you want a fancy blow-dry. With city-breaks and nights (yes, plural) out on the town, we want to look our best. With that in mind, we asked four Irish hairdressers (and nominees in this year’s IMAGE Business of Beauty Awards) to name their hero products for a long lasting blow-dry. Here’s what they said:

Aidan Darcy at Brown Sugar

“My favourite products are Pli Shaper and Beech Waves in the L’Oréal Techni Art range. Both products can be used as a prepping agent before blow-drying, and Beech Waves can be used after the blow-dry to add more texture and to create a more lived-in, undone look”.

L’Oreal Professionnel Tecni-Art Pli Shaper, €12.99

L’Oreal Professionnel Tecni-Art Beach Waves, €17.95

Leah Cunningham at Peter Mark

“Lift Vertige in the Kérastase range is unreal for lifting the roots. For those clients who love volume, L’Incroyable is the best heat protector and it has a hold factor to help secure the blow-dry. Redken two-day extend dry shampoo is great for straight after a blow-dry. I also love a good bit of elixir from Kérastase, as it comes in various formulas for all different hair types.”

Kérastase Lift Vertige, €24.95

Kérastase Styling L’Incroyable Blow-Dry, €26.95

Redken Two-Day Extender Dry Shampoo, €20.95

Kérastase Elixir Ultime Hair Oil, €48.45

Sarah Ethel at Dry & Fly

“My hero product to hold a good blow-dry is Moroccan Oil Texture Spray. It’s a mix of a light hairspray and a wax for a soft hold. People tend to over-pack the hair with hairspray and this can cause the hair to feel weighed down.”

Moroccan Oil Dry Texture Spray, €21.45

Shauna Millea in The Salon at the Shelbourne

“My key product (that I absolutely love) is Kérastase Blow-Dry Cream. It has wax participles in it which help mould the hair into shape and keep it in place. My top tip is, at the end of a blow-dry, use a pea-size amount of elixir oil (see above) and pat down the flyaway hairs. You will be frizz-free for a couple of days.”

Kérastase Crème de la Crème Blow-Dry Cream, €21.99

Aidan Darcy, Leah Cunningham, Sarah Ethel, and Shauna Millea are nominated for Best Bloody Brilliant Blow-Dry in this year’s IMAGE Business of Beauty Awards.
