Brown Thomas WILD: 10 Things You Need To Know About Christine Lucignano
Top Irish and International Make-up artist Christine Lucignano will host an exclusive and intimate masterclass in Brown Thomas Cork on Saturday, March 10th from 2:30pm to 4pm. Ahead of her appearance (and in-between her busy schedule), we asked the makeup veteran about getting our skin in ship-shape before applying foundation, her desert island must-haves, and what we can expect from the beauty world in 2018.

Creating the right base for makeup is essential. But you have to make sure that your priming steps play nicely with whatever foundation formulas you choose. I love Sisley’s Double Tenseur for a dreamy and hydrated result as well as Laura Mercier’s entire collection of primers!!
A dewy-skinned finish is most-definitely still top of the list in terms of request for My Celebrity clients, however, us chicks are getting far savvier in terms of wanting that ‘dew’ to last and not just melt off in an hour! The way I achieve a flawless finish is different for every face. Don’t fall into the ‘One size fits all’ approach, tailor your products for your own skin and lifestyle. But ALL skins should avail of the easily accessible Hyaluronic Acid products for the highest level of hydration and hence a great looking skin!
If I was stranded on a desert island I would make sure I had Chanel’s UV Essential Multi-Protection Daily Defender with SPF 30. This would keep my skin safe and protected from the elements. Next hero would be Sisley Eye and Lip L’Integral Anti Age Cream so that my lips and fragile eye area stays hydrated and happy. Finally, I would have Clinique’s Moisture Surge Facial Spray as it’s packed with skin cooling and hydrating ingredients!

Who should we all be following? Well me of course!! You need to stay in touch with all of my Beauty and Fashion adventures!! I would also start following people who INSPIRE you creatively and that make you feel joy and not social pressure!! I personally follow Dick Page (makeup artist who mentored me in the early 90’s), Caroline Hirons (skin guru), Romero Jennings and Victor Chamberlain (both MAC global artists), Peter Phillips (Diors global makeup creator), Lisa Eldridge, Andrew Fitzsimmon‘s (Irish hair dresser who takes care of the Kardashians), The V&A, Aerin Lauder, Edward Enniful, Drew Barrymore, Goldie Hawn and anything got to do with Puppies because it will bring you joy!!!

Biggest beauty trends for ss18 are really about longer wearing dewy skin products, flashes of colour on lashes other than brown and black. Bushy yet more dimensional brows, not so blocky. And a more discreet finish in contour and highlighting products.

A #ThrowBackThursday Makeup Trend I would love to see is NO MORE COOKIE CUTTER MAKEUP LOOKS!! Be an individual, do what makes you look and feel fresh!! Allow your freckles to shine, grow out those brows and let them be more Brooke Shields and less Boy George.
Salicylic acid will help to tackle breakouts, but preventing the breakouts is a smarter way to go. Exfoliate regularly and make sure you use a great cleanser before bed. And try your HARDEST not to squeeze or poke as this will invariably lead to a prolonged spot as well as possibly scarring.
I have many favourite concealers: again, it’s quite individual depending on needs. I love MAC Pro Long Wear and also the new YSL All Hours and I REALLY Love all of the concealers that Nars do!!
Foods to avoid during a breakout would vary greatly depending on your skin type and also your hormonal cycle. I would advise booking in with a nutritionist if your breakouts seem to be triggered by foods. You could have food allergies that you’re not even aware of.
A strong lip is always red for me. But for Celebrities, we are still loving a palette of nudes in all finishes.
Most exciting thing happening to me at THIS moment is the event happening in cork this Saturday with Brown Thomas. As well as that I’m in London working on a huge makeup campaign shoot with a gorgeous Celebrity who is a babe!!
Keep up to date with Christine’s work here and register for this exclusive event HERE.
