Bridal beauty Monday: trending bridal hair with Roy Leigh

IMAGE Business of Beauty Awards 2018 winner of Most Creative Talent in Hair, Roy Leigh of Brown Sugar, shares the trending bridal styles for 2018, when to book a trial and the right style for your face shape.

Popular bridal styles

"Most brides tend to go with a softer look and a lot more brides are wearing their hair down now - I always tell a bride to go with a hairstyle that suits them and not necessarily their dress, because a lot of brides tell me that they “have to wear their hair up for the dress but they hate their hair up.” This makes no sense to me and there are ways around it - you could wear your hair down but to one side, still showing the detail off in the dress. I have a feeling that Meghan Markle’s messy bun will be a huge inspiration for brides for 2018 too."

Booking a trial

"You should book your trial anywhere between 3-4 weeks prior to your wedding - this will give the bride enough time to ensure that she is happy with her final look and if not, it gives enough time to do a second trial if needed. If a bride is using hair extensions, make sure they’re applied before the trial or to make sure she has them with her on the day and to bring any ornamentation also."

Bridal colour trends

"Keep your colour natural and glossy. Don’t go changing your colour drastically before your big day - stick to what suits you."

Finding the perfect style for your face shape

"When I’m dressing hair, I personalise each upstyle/down style to each individual - I feel like face shape can play its part but dressing hair is very visual."
