The IMAGE Beauty Awards: This year’s best hair conditioners

Is your hair in need of some TLC? The 15th annual IMAGE Beauty Awards supplement lists the best beauty launches of the last year, in partnership with Boots. The awards are independently judged by Ireland’s leading doctors, dermatologists, beauty professionals, make-up artists, hair experts and influencers.

IMAGE contributing editor Melanie Morris says, “I hope we’ve included some familiar favourites here, along with some future heroes you’ll consider valuable new additions to your beauty bag. We’ve also made sure to pick up plenty of insider pro tips from our expert judging panel and have shared the best with you in the IMAGE Beauty Awards supplement.”

Check out the seven winning hair conditioners chosen by David Cashman, art director at Reds hair salon; Darren Kennedy, TV presenter and writer; Michael Leong, freelance hairstylist at michaelleong.com; and Sharon Sheehan, artistic director at AC Pure.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Deep Conditioner, €7.90

“Great for curly hair or wild curls that need taming. This defines perfect curls while moisturising the ends.”
– Michael Leong

Aussie Stop The Break Conditioning Spray, €6.59

“A leave-in conditioning spray is particularly great for people who use a lot of hot tools and electrical appliances. Just spray it on. It’s for all hair types and it’s super light on the hair because it’s only a spray.”
– Michael Leong

Pureology Clean Volume Conditioner, €23

“This is for fine and coloured treated hair. It creates weightless volume; protects colour; isn’t heavy, so it doesn’t sit on your hair; and there’s no need for volumizing spray.”
– Michael Leong

Joico Blonde Life Conditioner, €16.95

“This really absorbs through the hair and smells amazing. It’s light so hair isn’t weighed down and the reflective shine is really great. It’s best used in conjunction with the shampoo.”
– David Cashman

Redken Clean Maniac Clean Touch Conditioner, €20

“I don’t usually use conditioner but I really liked the shampoo, so I tried this. It was really light on the hair and my hair was clean as a whistle.”
– Darren Kennedy

L’Oreal Professional Series Expert Inforcer B6 +Biotin Conditioner, €15.50

“This is a really good detangler and left hair shiny with split ends less obvious afterwards.”
– Sharon Sheehan

Elvive Extraordinary Oil Coconut Oil Conditioner, €3.89

“This is a great supermarket brand for thick hair. Afterwards, you’ll find the hair brushes out really easily.”
– Sharon Sheehan
